Henderson is an incorporated city in Clark County, Nevada, on the southern side of the Las Vegas Valley. It is the second-largest incorporated city in Nevada, behind Las Vegas, with an estimated population of 363,568 in 2025 according to the Nevada State Demographer. The city covers nearly 118.5 square miles and has its own municipal government and city limits, separate from Las Vegas.
Henderson grew from a World War II community built around the Basic Magnesium plant and officially incorporated on April 16, 1953. Its historic center developed along what is now the Water Street District, while later growth brought master-planned communities such as Green Valley, Seven Hills and Inspirada. The city also extends toward the McCullough Range and Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, connecting its developed areas with the surrounding Mojave Desert.
