As of July 1, 2024, all new applicants for a Nevada LMT License must show proof of successfully completing a minimum of 625 hours of instruction from an approved program. This rigorous coursework must include a core focus on Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, and Pathology, ensuring every licensed therapist understands both the body mechanics and contraindications essential for safe practice.

Mandatory Examination and Continuing Education

Nevada utilizes a strict, two-pronged approach to licensing and renewal, validating both initial competence and ongoing professional development.
 

  • MBLEx Requirement: All new therapists are required to pass the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). This nationally recognized, standardized exam ensures every LMT entering the field possesses a fundamental knowledge base.

  • License Renewal: To maintain licensure, Nevada LMTs must complete 24 hours of Board-approved Continuing Education (CE) every two years.
